How Much Does a Kitchen Renovation Cost?
How Much Does A Kitchen Renovation Cost?
For many people creating kitchen design ideas is difficult due to their lack of experience with kitchen renovations. Many clients may know what colours or appliances they like but struggle to make informed decisions about what materials or kitchen styles because they're unsure how much a kitchen renovation costs.
This puts them in the difficult situation where they need to go through the whole kitchen design process to determine the likely cost of their kitchen renovation.
With this in mind, this article is written from a kitchen designers point of view to help clients approximate how much particular kitchen design ideas cost. This allows you to then begin the kitchen renovation process in a more informed way saving you quite a bit of time.
So, heres an introductory foray into kitchen renovations, budgets and kitchen design ideas for your home from an experienced kitchen designer.
Fundamentally, there are three levels of kitchen renovations. They all allow you to change your kitchens design, all varying in budget according to the method used, as follows:
1. A Budget Kitchen
Typically, this involves an entirely new kitchen carcass (cabinetry), laminated bench tops (onto chipboard), melamine doors (a mass produced composite timber product) with standard metal sided drawers.
This type of kitchen ranges from $17k to $27k depending on size, appliances and fittings chosen by the client
2. A Luxury kitchen
Composite stone bench tops (such as Caesarstone), vinyl wrap flat panel doors, soft close draws and wire mechanisms all feature strongly in this type of kitchen design.
Many clients like under bench sinks, mid-range tap-ware and sapphire glass splashbacks to give a stylish presentation to an established home.
Appliances tend to be mid-range and the associated cost depending on the size of the kitchen is typically between $28k and $39k
3. A Premium kitchen
For a premium kitchen, the kitchen designer designs in pretty much the best of everything. Stone or granite bench tops, routed vinyl wrap or two pack doors, appliance cabinets, splashbacks, high end appliances and more.
These kitchens, more often than not, feature in homes exceeding $1M in value. They make a big statement about the home and how you like to use it.
Typically, this style of kitchen renovation costs in excess of $40k.
No matter what your kitchen design ideas, kitchen designers with a little creative thought and application can bring your kitchen renovation to life within the budget you have in mind.
